ST. LOUIS - Ambassador Ann Wagner is known in St. Louis and across Missouri for her remarkable talents in helping Republican candidates win elections, and today Roy Blunt announced she will be serving as chairman for his U.S. Senate campaign. As Chairman, Wagner will have a critical leadership role in the campaign's operations and in helping the campaign effectively deliver Roy Blunt's message of putting the people's future first.

"Ann Wagner is the most effective and successful statewide Republican campaigner in decades." said Roy Blunt. "She is the best possible person for this critical leadership role. Ambassador Wagner understands that this U.S. Senate race is not only important to Missouri, but the entire country. Missourians may very well decide whether or not Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama can do whatever they want to do or whether we restore checks and balances in Washington."

"Roy is a wonderful person and a terrific candidate who understands Missouri like no one else," Wagner said. "He's a problem solver, consensus builder and highly effective. Roy also has a very compelling personal story as someone who was born and brought home to a small farm and worked incredibly hard becoming the first in his family to graduate from college and earning his first job as a classroom teacher. This is a critical election. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama are pushing radical changes and far left experiments that are hurting our economy, taxing families and leaving us and our children and grandchildren with a huge debt for their failing government programs. Robin Carnahan is Missouri's Nancy Pelosi. She would serve as a weak rubber stamp for whatever the national liberals want to do and lacks the credentials to serve in the U.S. Senate."

Roy Blunt has placed his confidence in Ann Wagner because no one has greater knowledge and capability to produce a tremendous Republican vote in the St. Louis area, and the entire state, too. In February, Roy Blunt kicked off his campaign in St. Louis at Harris-Stowe State University and has kept his promise to be in the area often and defeat Robin Carnahan in this important region. Meanwhile, since announcing her campaign 266 days ago in a pre-recorded Internet video, Robin Carnahan sightings in the area have been rare and she has failed to hold a single campaign news conference in St. Louis, or anywhere.

Following nomination by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the U.S. Senate, Ann Wagner was sworn in as the 19th U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg where she served for four years until July, 2009. Previously, Ann Wagner was Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee for two terms and also held the position of Chair of the Missouri Republican Party for more than six years. She served for nine years as a local committeewoman in Lafayette Township, Missouri. In the private sector, she held management positions for two Missouri companies: Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, and Ralston Purina in St. Louis. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Ambassador Wagner earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, attending university on a vocal music scholarship. Ambassador Wagner, a St. Louis native and her husband, Ray, live in Ballwin. They have three children: Raymond III, 20, Stephen, 19, and Mary Ruth, 14.
