Post Dispatch: “Veterans for Blunt” formed to combat ad tying energy to terrorism

U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt is ramping up opposition to an ad attacking the Republican Senate hopeful for opposing cap-and-trade environmental legislation.

The spot, which has been running this week in the St. Louis market, seeks to connect energy dependency on terrorism, superimposing a picture of Blunt over footage from the attack of the U.S.S. Cole in 2000.

Voters will be seeing a lot of Secretary of State Robin Carnahan this year.


That's because she's running for the U.S. Senate seat held by longtime Sen. Kit Bond, who is retiring at the end of this year.

Carnahan, a Democrat from Rolla, recently sat down with the Springfield News-Leader Editorial Board to discuss her views on several federal issues and her likely Republican opponent, U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Springfield

Joplin Globe: Health bill demands transparency

Tonight, the president will give his State of the Union address. As Congress enters the chamber to hear what he has to say, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has her own resolution for 2010: ram through their government takeover of health care, despite the fact that only 37 percent of Missourians support the Democratic bill.

Despite the recent changes in the makeup of the Senate, House Democratic leaders are still not getting the message. They remain committed to trying to push through their reforms.
